Cornwall B&B - the farmhouse
The house itself is full of character, with many original features still in place. The main section was built some time in the mid - late 1600's, with two extensions added during the Georgian era. It was constructed in the same way that most traditional Cornish farmhouses of the period were, with a mixture of slate, granite, and whatever other stone was to hand being used for the walls on the ground floor, cob ( mud and straw ) on the first floor.
Breakfast and evening meals are served in the characterful dining room, dominated by the large fireplace which features two clome ovens, clay domes that were buried in the stonework and used to bake bread and pastries, and the welcoming wood burner, lit most evenings from the Autumn through to Spring. This room also doubles as the guests' lounge, with several comfortable arm chairs and antique wooden chairs to choose from.
The age of the property doesn't mean that you will be missing out on modern comforts or facilities. The very thick walls of a traditional Cornish farmhouse coupled with good insulation and efficient heating make for a lovely, cosy environment to stay in. Guests also have free access to our free, secured wifi network from all rooms in the house, if required.
